This program’s confusing mixture of styles and genres with a certain “Dafuq am I watching?” feeling might put off some other festival’s spectators but you, adventurous LUFFians, that’s what you are here for. Take Viola vs The Vampire King and its tagline — “Everyone’s favorite super 8 fantasy horror samurai vampire film”. Or the surrealistic fusion of documentary, fiction and visual art about the malevolent nature of the desert wind Santa Ana, which gives the film its name. When it comes to gore, dark humour and sensitive subjects, the question “Is there anything that should be off the table?” doesn’t enter into our consideration. Come feast your eyes on these weird delights.
