In 2017, the French committee of film classification pronounces a ban, forbidding the screening of “Frig” to anyone under 18 because of “the ubiquity of sexual scenes, showing, among others, sadomasochist practices”. Experimental tale of a breakup, dissected into three provocatively named acts (Love, Shit and Sperm), this film does not attempt to cajole its viewers and may very well lead to some animated discussions. But beyond the radicalism calling back to the performances of Viennese Actionists as well as to the writings of Sade or Bataille, in the end, “Frig” is just about love.
