In the presence of Khavn & Achinette Villamor

HD, color, Filipino (sub. English), 120'
A man comes back to his village and seduces a social worker, before falling for a mysterious young woman he met at the local cemetery. Directed by Butch Perez (Mumbaki, 1996), the local superstars Christopher De Leon and Vilma Santos (Dyesbel, 1973) woo one another through melodramatic scenes and other uncanny situations. Without being especially innovative, Haplos distinguishes itself by a peculiar kind of humor, and conventional aesthetics, which contributed to the original success of the film, as it first came out. Unfortunately this notoriety did not lead to well-deserved international acknowledgement.
