Repaired record player, prepared soundboard, sander disks, trays and knives, jumper cables and alligator clips, springs, contact microphones and batteries. It sways, wavers, threats to come apart. And with no compression, it’s like a blade stabbed in your static metal body. Rivière plays among the audience, from its guts. He takes out the cans and recovers the instability of such a relationship. There you are, prepared. Also, to place him in the spectrum of his activism, Rivière is behind a multitude of projects and other sound wanderings, one of which being Sonic Protest.
